the Providence Rock + Roll Yard Sale is back!
read on for our call for vendors / vendor application link
we weren't sure we'd have a path forward in Providence this year after losing our longtime backer. this came as a shock to us, our dedicated vendors, and the fun people of Providence, as our annual Spring event had become a fine-tuned success we couldn't do alone. why do we need backing? we are just two people working with a very small budget. but with supportive partners and our amazing vendors we're excited to announce that we are once again able to bring our market / block party back. we just need your help by signing on as a vendor and spreading the word so we can get those thousands of lovely Provedence people back together to celebrate our city together. the people have the power.
we know this is wordy, but please read all of this email to make sure that selling at this event is right for you. and thank you Peter MacPhee aka Swamp Yankee for working with us since 2003. here's his latest creation . . .

SATURDAY 7th JUNE 2025
WEST FOUNTAIN STREET
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND
FREE ADMISSION
NOON-5PM
the individuality and hard work that small pop up businesses bring to our events is what makes them special. the Rock + Roll Yard Sale would be nothing without you. so please know we appreciate your interest in selling with us.
all applicants will be considered on merit so be sure to include a compelling description and detailed photographs of what you do / sell in your application.
this is the call for vendors for What Cheer's upcoming Saturday 7 June 2025 West End Providence Rock + Roll Yard Sale, a marketplace / block party to be held in and around the cobblestoned beauty of West Fountain Street on the West Side of Providence, Rhode Island.
this application is for sellers of vinyl records / music related stuff / vintage / antiques / handmade goods. please do not apply to be a food / beverage vendor here as we aren't handling those aspects of the event.
the vendor fee for up to a 10' x 10' space is $115 due in advance once your application has been approved and payment info has been emailed to you. each vendor fee includes funds the city requires for an individual peddler's license. additional spaces are available at a reduced rate as they would not require additional city fees (reduced rate only available for the same indivudual business - you cannot reserve two spaces for two businesses to get a discount) but do note that vendor spaces can be shared if you're looking for a lower cost option. just note that it would be up to you to find someone to share a space with.
please take your time with our application to make sure you spell everything correctly (especially your email address!) and provide working links, good photos and a compelling description of what you do/sell so we can make sure that this event is right for you.
we recommend that you fill out the app on a computer (not a phones) but hopefully either way will work. our application is a Google doc / form so using a gmail account works best.
historically our Providence event has been incredibly popular. and while this year's location and partnership is different, we expect it to be successful, so long as we get good weather. that said, we do ask that you be patient and understanding with us as there will be some unknown factors with this.
vendor space is extremely limited so be sure to apply right away if you're interested in vending, as space will sell out.
this is an outdoor event with vendor spaces up to 10' x 10' to allow for standard eventing tents set up "flea market style" with nothing provided to you but empty space, so be advised that you'll need to provide your own tent, tables and chairs if you need any of those things. also note that you will need to reserve and pay for additional space(s) if you have an unuaual setup, such as an old camper trailer / pickup truck that requires more than 10' in any direction. make note of this in your application if applicable.
otherwise no personal vehicles will be allowed in the street / event grounds as part of your setup, but we are working on having parking for vendors nearby (no promises, but we'll do what we can). we'll be in more of a neighborhood setting instead of downtown, so there's also plenty of on street parking nearby without pesky parking meters.
you can share a space but it's entirely up to you to find someone to share with. if you're approved and you'd like to share your space just let us know who you're sharing with so that we can publicize everyone's participation. if sharing a space only one of you should fill out the application and pay the vendor fee.
there is a raindate for this event. it's the following day, Sunday 8 June, so you'll need to be available both days in case of severe weather, although we'll be understanding if you can't make the raindate -- just know that you'd be forfeiting your vendor fee if you can't make the makeup date.
all vendor spaces will be assigned ahead of time.
⬎ here's how things work ⬐
apply right away if you'd like to be considered as a vendor. if your application is approved, we'll send you a confirmation email with
more information and how to pay the vendor fee which is $115 per space and due in advance of the event, reserved on a 1st-come-first-paid basis.
the vendor fee is to be paid through Venmo. if you don't have a Venmo account then reach out and we'll work out something, but know that it's easy to use and no different than PayPal in reality, as Venmo is owned by PayPal. we prefer Venmo because, at this time at least, it is fee-free and we have done all we can to keep our vendor fees low.
we'll send payment info once you apply online.
to recap how things work: (1) you apply, (2) we approve your application if you meet our standards and have applied before we're sold out of space, (3) we send you an acceptance email along with payment information, (4) you get to sell at the event if your payment is received before we're sold out of space.
~ Our Basic Terms ~ |
you're in if approved and you pay on time!
but you must agree to all of terms / rules in this email, our online vendor application, confirmation email, and our vendor details email that will be sent out closer to the date of the event itself.
|
vendor fees are not refundable for any reason.
if|
if you can't make our raindate you forfeit your vendor fee.
|
nothing illegal or incredibly offensive may be sold.
you also must pick up after yourselves. if you leave trash or anything else in your space, you will be banned from doing any of our future events. |
by applying you also agree to not hold us, our business, our events, our cats, our sponsors, or anyone else liable for any loss or damage incurred before, during or after this event. we will do all we can to make sure we've created a safe and successful event, but our community is one where we don't hold those we work with accountable for actions that are out of our control. it is your responsibility to deal with Rhode Island sales tax. you're all set if you already have a valid tax number with the State of Rhode Island ( please include your tax number when you submit your application) but if you do not have one you can get an annual one for free from the State of Rhode Island, or just do a one-day one if you don't intend to sell at any other markets this year (we can help with that day of the event)
|
if you have any questions, just reply to this email. also note that we've set the date for our 2025 Somerville Rock + Roll Yard Sale which is happening in the Boston area Sunday 7th September. our call-for-vendors for this event will happen once we've gotten the Providence one off the ground, so mark your calendars and stay tuned.
