Bridges Breaks Down Barriers
Bridges, Portland Story Theater's social justice program Thank you everyone for making our debut of Bridges a complete success! And while the show was sold out and the storytellers received a standing ovation, what really mattered was people started sharing their personal stories about race, ethnicity, and culture. Our audience told us that they "loved it!," were "moved," and "were transformed by the experience." Lawrence Howard, Joy Young, and Lynne Duddy met last night with the tellers, Willie Welch, Donna Kelly, Paula Small, and Judith Mowry. It was a brilliant debrief. Solo Series
November 22nd and 23rd

This Solo Series evolved out of the five-year run of the Singlehandedly Festival. Like the festival, each feature-length story in the Solo Series displays the breadth of talent and the rich complexity of each individual performer as they bring their own personal experiences to the stage.

Urban Tellers Kriya Kaping (Friday) and Jeff Burke (Saturday), will share the stage with our artist-in-residence, Denis Gessing from Colorado (who performs both nights).  Be a part of this exciting process, as the stories unfold in these world premiere performances.

"A life story is really the story of the soul of a person.
The most powerful life story expresses the struggle of a soul.
The most important stories we tell about ourselves
are those that express the timeless within us.
Inherent in the process is a risk that comes with telling a truthful story.
Yet, a truthful story is the most validating story of all."
