Women's History Month is Marching Near You
March is Women's History Month, and that means we take a look at the history of San Francisco through a different perspective: the biographies of a dozen daring divas who put their mark on the City.
During the Wild West era, California was just that: an untamed bachelor pad full of gold (and thrill) seekers. Because of the nature of gold rushes in unsettled territories, men initially outnumbered women. In fact, the ratio of men and women in San Francisco wasn't equal for 50 years. And it's around then that the City shed its rough-and-tumble image for one of sophistication and grandeur.
We are proud to present Go West, Young Woman as our Tour of the Month for March. You can customize your tour by picking which of these matriarchs you'd like to hear about, and see the City's history through their eyes. Plus, you'll get the usual fun and frivolity from our FOOT! history experts. So come march with us.
Proceeds from our Tour of the Month will go to the La Casa de las Madres, a local non-profit that responds to calls of help from victims of domestic violence. To learn more about La Casa de las Madres, or to donate directly to them, click here.
The Summer of Love is Almost Here!
We're very excited about our three tours of the Haight Ashbury that celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love. We have our long-time favorite FLASHBACK tour, plus a new extended LONG STRANGE TRIP version, and a SHORT TRIP version for those who just want the highlights.
