Special Focus Group (SFG) Latest Developments

Do you know that EAS has five Special Focus Groups (SFGs)? EAS SFGs are working groups of EAS members with defined aims, which provide a forum within EAS for the involvement of individuals drawn together by a common interest in a field of study, teaching, or research.

It is important to acknowledge the contributions of those who have recently transitioned from their SFG leadership roles. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Helmut Schaumberger (SiME) and Jonas Völker (PRiME) for their exceptional service and dedication to the EAS Special Focus Groups.

We are excited to welcome Motje Wolf (SiME) and Annika Endres (PRiME) into their new leadership positions for their respective SFGs. SiME's new steering committee brings together Helmut Schaumberger (AT), Lynsey Callaghan (IRE), Gabriel Imthurn (CH) and Motje Wolf (UK).

We are pleased to introduce the new structure of SFG DigitiME, which will be led by Philipp Ahner alongside colleagues from the Steering Committee, including Fabian Bade and Matthias Krebs.

We are proud to announce that the SFG InclusME, led by Anna Backman Bister and Veronika Phung, along with their dedicated team, will be presenting at the ISME 2024 Helsinki conference. This opportunity highlights the hard work and commitment of the SFG InclusME team.

Thank you all for your continued support and dedication to EAS. Find out more about EAS SFGs here.

SFG Spotlight: ImprovME

The newest SFG, ImprovME (Improvisation in Music Education) which describes itself as 'shaping a joint transnational community of improvisational practice in music education', held its first official open space at EAS 2024 Dublin. After the first joint ideas were developed in Dublin, the group is currently planning an exchange on didactic concepts and improvisational teaching formats as well as a Europe-wide cross-border quantitative survey on the actual classroom situation in regard to improvisation.
Thank you to ImprovME coordinator Johannes Treß (DE) for leading this exciting new group!
