Last week you attended The Coalition of McKay Scholarship School’s “Focus on the Future” Conference. We were excited about the response to the conference. Between networking times, great speakers and diverse vendors, an energetic buzz filled the air.
The question Robyn Rennick asked of you in the McKay Updates, “Where does the public and legislators receive their information about the McKay Scholarship?” Your answer, “The media.”
If left to the media, the only news that is written is generally negative news. However, your voice can influence the media. Bring a positive message about the McKay Scholarship to your community.
Attached to this Newsbriefs is a News Release you may use and revise to fit your community. Most papers have a community section. Submit it to the paper.
Also, look for Homeowner Association Newsletters. This is an often overlooked avenue to be taken into residents homes. Many times they solicit for articles of interest to their members.
Finally, when you are published, send the article to your legislators with a parent letter.
Let us know where and when you are published.
WE MUST ALL BE THE VOICE OF THE MCKAY SCHOLARSHIP
FOR OUR STUDENTS.
