Dear Music Friends,
Can't believe it, but the moment is finally here--tomorrow, July 31, I will turn 65. Meanwhile, Summer is now really swinging, and we hope you're feeling as good as we are!

Our July holiday break is about to end, and I'm ready to celebrate my birthday with our August performances.
Before I depart to the US next week for a series of performances with the Laroo/Byrd Funky 4 and more, I have three birthday performances with different formations featuring some of my favorite musicians.
- Thursday, August 1: Jazz, hiphop, funk to the Max in Cafe Stiels, Haarlem, the Netherlands with the Saskia Laroo Band
- Saturday, August 3: De Knoet, Aarschot, Belgium as part of their Summer Jazz Weekend with the Saskia Laroo Band
- Sunday afternoon, August 4: Organic summer jazz concert in Jachthaven het Twiske, the Netherlands by Duo Laroo/Byrd with special guest Maarten Russchen on guitar. I grew up in Den Ilp and attended high school in Zaandam, both nearby, making it extra special to celebrate my birthday in this beautiful nature area by the lake where I swam often during my teens.
Everyone is welcome at these free concerts. I love to celebrate by being surrounded by everyone and making music.
PS: Exciting news—our India tour in September/October is confirmed! One of the highlights will be performing with my band at the Ziro Festival, India's largest eco-friendly outdoor festival.
