March 2020

Welcome to the March issue of <monitor input>

In this issue:

During these troubled times Sound-Link is fully open for business and we can easily be contaced by phone or e-mail - see HERE.

We hold demo units of most Gefell microphones (and those we don't can easily be obtained), several ME-Geithain monitors (RL 906, 944K, 934K 901K), HUM Audio microphones and pre-amps (whole range), the Turtle and True Phantom – we can also easliy arrange demonstration units of any AETA codec (which are becoming the codec of choice for the discerning broadcaster).

So, although personal visits have to be curtailed for the time being, we can still arrange any demonstrations required and deliver any item ordered.

Stay Healthy.

Recently Gefell have been investing in building microphones for stock - so most microphones now have a very short delivery time and are normally received withing 48 hours of despatch.

These are despatched direct from the central warehouse in Germany.

We have demonstration units of most models here in the UK should you wish to try first.

We have a dedicated page on the website with links to every available microphone data sheet - it is HERE.

HUM Audio Devices ribbon microphones

We now have demonstration units of the complete range of HUM Audio Devices ribbon microphones in the UK.

These are:
RS-2  –  active, phantom powered, stereo ribbon microphone with long (2″) ribbons and remote controller.
ARM-1L  –  active, phantom powered, ribbon microphone with a long (2") ribbon.
ARM-1S  –  active, phantom powered, ribbon microphone with a short (1") ribbon.
RP-2  –  remote controlled 2-channel Class-A microphone pre-amplifier with DI.

Details on the HUM Audio Devices microphones and pre-amplifier are HERE

We now have a dedicated page on the website with all available HUM Audio data sheets and manuals - this page is here.

The ARM-1L and ARM-1S have recently been reviewed by Sound On Sound and should be published soon.

ME-GEITHAIN

We keep several pairs of ME-Geithain monitors for demonstration in the UK.

We have the large RL 901K, we have the middle range RL 934K and RL 944K and the small RL 906.

All ME-Geithain monitors sound the same except for bass extension as I found when I had the 901K, 944K and 906 side-by-side.  If the music did not have an extended bass end, I could not tell which one was playing.

The 906 has a 5" bass unit and goes down to 50Hz
The 944K has an 8" bass unit and goes down to 35Hz
The 934K has a 10" bass unit and goes down to 30Hz
The 901K has a 15" bass unit and goes down to 25Hz

The K-series are "cardioid" and do not radiate bass to the rear like other monitors.

If you are interested in a different monitor, listening to the one on each side will give you a good indication of what the one you want will sound like - EG: Listening to the 934K and 901K if you are interested in the 922K.

We have a dedicated page on the website with all available ME-Geithain date sheets, user manuals, technical drawings, etc. - this page is HERE.

AETA Audio

AETA codecs are fast becoming the codec of choice for many broadcasters - the audio quality is exceptional and can cope with the extremes where many other codecs run into distortion.

The range is wide from the eScoopfone iPhone codec app up to the multi-codec rack system - with everything in-between.

We can easily arrange loan units for testing on request.

The ScoopTEAM commentary codec is becoming the codec of choice for several international sports broadcasters and the latest update allows settings for either television or radio broadcast who work in different ways.

We have a dedicated page on the website with all available AETA data sheets, manuals and info. sheets HERE.

2020 Prices

We have produced new price lists for 2020 - most prices have remained the same, but we have had to make some adjustments for the £/€ exchange rate, which has been a bit volatile of late.

We do try and keep prices as stable as we can, but we do have to compensate for the larger swings.

The current price list is "March 2020" and the price lists are HERE.
