The report of our Columbus watershed water monitoring study is now available to the public

This water quality study was created from the Columbus Community Bill of  Rights in conjunction with Dusquesne University, University of Washington, and American University.

Its purpose was to establish baseline levels for certain  pollutants that would indicate contamination from oil & gas production infrastructure in the Columbus city water’s Hap Cremean watershed.

It also verified if those pollutants are above levels determined to be higher than limits set by regulators.

You can access the report from our website by clicking HERE or on the image above.

Ohio lost a true environmental advocate as Teresa Mills passed away on December 2nd, 2023

Columbus Community Bill of Rights and the residents of the State of Ohio lost an extremely dedicated environmental advocate this week.  Teresa Mills passed away on Saturday, December 2nd 2023.  Our group remembers Teresa as not only an incredible advocate, but as an invaluable source of knowledge, wisdom, and as a source of oil & gas production data we used that only she seemed to be able to find.
Here is an excerpt taken from a CHEJ email:
Teresa was CHEJ's (Center for Health and Environmental Justice) Ohio-based At-Large Community Organizer and Smalls Grants Manager. Her organizing expertise began with a successful campaign to shut down the Columbus, Ohio garbage incinerator that was polluting her neighborhood, which was later defined as the largest emitter of dioxin in the country.

Teresa founded the Buckeye Environmental Network (BEN), a statewide Ohio coalition of community groups working on environmental health hazards and served as Executive Director for many years. She had extensive experience in research, community and statewide organizing on toxic waste sites, incinerators, water pollution and hydrofracking and community assistance.

For over 30 years, Teresa worked as a grassroots leader to assist communities in finding their voices, analyzing their data and develop strategic plans. The Environmental Justice movement has lost a great Warrior.
