Kate's Corner

Our chorus reached a milestone in 2026:  we have been singing glorious choral masterpieces and delighting audiences for 50 years!  Our January performance will be another chance to celebrate our longevity as a chorus, and I hope we find the people power to host a 50th anniversary reception after the concert.

As much as there is to celebrate at reaching our 50th birthday, as president my focus is on ensuring the strength and smooth functioning of our chorus for the next decade and beyond.  It’s possible to fall into complacency that season after season, year after year, the chorus keeps going, so maybe there is some kind of “institutional momentum” at work here.  Hardly!  The chorus is still here because of the many singers, some still in the chorus, others who have moved on or passed away, who loved this chorus and who stepped forward to assume leadership positions or smaller operational tasks.

Some critical roles are still being handled by folks who, quite frankly, need a break.  Now it’s your turn.  Please consider what this chorus means to you and how you can help our beloved chorus continue to sing and prosper for many years to come.  Over the coming weeks, I will give you information about the myriad ways that you can help out.  Please do some soul searching and then commit to work on something that suits your personality, skill set, and time limitations.  And in ten years, when we are ready to celebrate our 60th birthday, we will have you to thank!

How You Can Help Your Chorus

-          - Join the ICC Steering Committee.  Meets every 4-6 weeks from Aug-May.  1.5 hour meetings, usually by Zoom, usually in the evening.

-             - Help organize a reception to take place after our January concert

(A HUGE thank you to Suzanne Abrams Rebillard, who has offered to take over the creation of our concert programs from Allison Myers!)
