Hello All Adventurers In Life Drawing!
We made a flying start to 2018 with our amazing Basquiat event with Le Fil and also the final Goya event in our series with John Close at the Crypt- thanks so much to all of you who came along for what were two very different but very exciting afternoons of drawing action! All our spring Saturday workshops are booking- with lots of old favourites, some rare appearances and a new arrival in the form of a new portrait painting workshop with the brilliant Kim Scouller. Frank is back with his great portrait and drawing workshops, David will be taking our Lo-Fi Printmaking and Creative Anatomy workshops and our ever popular drawing and painting workshops are back as usual.

THE BODY PHYSICAL AT THE ROYAL SOC SCULPTORS |

Join us for a very special edition in our series of events in collaboration with the spectacular Life Drawing Gymnasia. We are really excited to be popping up The Body Physical in the beautful galleries of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
Expect some very physical, powerful poses from the Gymnasia in an evening of highly charged life drawing, immersive sound and beautiful surroundings.

The Life Drawing Gymnasia is a model run group aiming to reclaim the power of the artists model through creating their own events and taking control of their artistic direction. Founded by professional models, the group are committed to a very physical and dynamic genre of life modeling and are constantly channeling their strong connection and stamina into a unique style of performance modeling.

ART & ANATOMY AT THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS |
|
|
|
Join us for a very special creative anatomy life drawing workshop in partnership with The Royal College of Physicians to coincide with the museum’s current exhibition: ‘Ceaseless Motion: William Harvey’s experiments in circulation’.
This promises to be a very exciting evening of drawing as we work alongside rare books and archives as well as original iconic illustrations by anatomists and physicians which will be on display especially for the class. Participants will be able to view dramatic woodcuts showing the muscles of the body from Andreas Vesalius, Matthew Baillie and William Hunter, with expert knowledge on-hand from the RCP museum team. You will also have access to the exhibition during the workshop.
Draw from life with a live model and really explore the fabric of the human body from the inside out using a range of fun and imaginative drawing processes.
Booking is essential and places are limited. Suitable for all levels of ability.

Lose you painting inhibitions in this exciting and practical portrait workshop with
award winning figurative artist Kim Scouller.
Starting with an introduction to the ideas behind her approach and artistic
influences, the workshop will guide you through her process from composition ideas
to the finished painting.
You will be shown 'new ways to make marks' and explore gestural paint handling to
build the structure of the head. With plenty of demonstrations and one-to-one

NEW! CREATIVE ANATOMY- LIFE DRAWING WORKSHOP |

Join us for a brand new workshop designed to improve your understanding of human anatomy though creative drawing from the life model. A great way to develop and improve your life drawing knowledge and observational skills.
This fun and informative workshop was devised as part of a series of classes we were commissioned to run at the Wellcome Trust in response to their collections and displays. We will explore the fabric of the human body from the inside out using a range of imaginative processes, from bones through to muscles and use this to consider the physicality of the surface of the body.

A brilliant day of creative hands on practical printmaking, with Printmaking Fellow at the RA and London Drawing co-founder, David Price.
Work from the model using mono printing, relief and lino printing with techniques and equipment you can use at home. Great for pushing your drawing in different directions.

A brilliant day of creative hands on practical A great day of practical drawing and tuition using colour and pastels.
A general class with practical demonstrations, lots of instruction for beginners and one to one advice for those with more experience. Learn about how to work with light and shade and basic colour theory, using conte and soft coloured pastels to produce lush and developed drawings. Great for portfolio building.

One day Life Painting sessions designed to provide the skills needed to approach painting with confidence.
This is a great general painting class, good for all levels of ability. All basic skills needed to achieve an accomplished painting are approached- including composition, use of colour, mixing, and application of paint using both oils and acrylics. The aim of the workshop is to have completed an in-depth sketch in oils and acrylics by the end of the day.

We run a London Drawing Blog and are looking for text from your point of view. Big thanks to Philip Copestake, Stewart Allen, Jean Edwards and Rosalie Polet who have all written blog entires for us so far.
Did you go to the BlackStar Drawing Theatre ievent, the Goya workshops? Our amazing shibari life drawing sessions or any of our other Drawing Theatre events? Did you make a start in life drawing at one of our Saturday Life Drawing classes, or did you rediscover life drawing at our drop in classes? Or perhaps you are a regular at our sessions and want to write about how your drawing has developed as a result. The search is on for the next London Drawing venue! We are really keen to begin more drop in life drawing sessions and saturday life drawing and painting workshops. We need a venue with a decent sized room or studio, ideally with good transport links.
Our Doodle Bar venue, Artizan St and also The Vaults were all suggested by our members and have proved amazingly useful!
London is a very big place and we can cover it using you as our eyes and ears- can you think of a venue which might work?
