We hope the new term is going well. We’ve got a lot to share with you, including new information from Ofsted, new CPD from GLP Expert Centres, and an opportunity for your global learning resources to be published.
NEW – resources for teachers by teachers
The GLP encourages teachers to share good practice and learning. You can now find a selection of excellent resources developed by teachers from GLP schools by logging into your GLP account and clicking on the ‘By teachers for teachers’ option under ‘My GLP’.
Many of you will also have produced your own resources for global topics that have been tried and tested, and work really well in the classroom. We’d love to share your experience and expertise by also making the global learning materials that you have developed for your pupils available on the GLP website. Learn how you can share your resources with teaching colleagues across the GLP network via our website.
NEW mathematics resource
A new resource that explores the global trade in trainers through dividing in a given ratio is now available to download from our Mathematics webpage. See the full range of resources available through the GLP via the main Resources area.
New case studies
Take a look at the latest case studies from GLP schools, including the following:
Opportunity to host an International Non-Governmental Organisation workshop
Oxfam (one of the GLP partners) can deliver a free workshop in four GLP schools each term, exploring how International Non-Governmental Organisations can support schools in the GLP. If you’re interested in hosting a workshop or would like more information, please email email@example.com
Follow the GLP on Twitter
If you or your school is on Twitter, please do follow us at @glp_e where you can also receive information on relevant global learning events and news. Please also encourage teaching colleagues in other schools to follow the GLP.
Please take a look at the following new updates and information to ensure that your school receives the maximum benefit from your time on the programme.
- Ofsted has highlighted the GLP in their latest School Inspection Update to Inspectors, stating that it 'maps onto the four Ofsted core judgements and to SMSC' and suggests that schools on the programme should be able 'to set out how the GLP is contributing to their provision and outcomes for pupils'.
- As well as the wide range of courses already available, you can now use your e-credits to obtain the Geographical Association Primary or Secondary Geography Quality Marks. Also, the CPD on offer now includes some new school-to-school courses offered by GLP Expert Centres. You can find the full range of CPD courses via the CPD Calendar. When considering which CPD option is most suitable for your school’s needs, you may want to consider attending CPD with your network as a cluster rather than individually. Your Expert Centre Co-ordinator can discuss the options with you and the other schools in your network.
- Funding of up to £1,000 is available to schools via the Innovation Fund, and an additional £500 of funding can be obtained via the GLP Transition Grant.
