Katie's Korner...
Dear SummerSing,

I hope you've had an enjoyable holiday week! The 40th anniversary choir begins this Thursday, which is exciting! I hope to see some of you there.

I found a new favorite video of Sihr Khalaq performed by the Ithaca College Women's Chorale under the direction of Janet Galvan. I saw this performance in the winter and it was spectacular! A member of the choir created choreography to show the lines of the music. I don't plan for us to memorize the song or do choreography with it, but watching and listening is a treat, so I was thrilled when Dr. Galvan told me that it was now available online. Enjoy, and see you on Monday!

All the best,
Katie

40th Anniversary Concert Rehearsal Tonight...
The first rehearsal for the 40th Anniversary Concert will be tonight at St. Paul's Church, 402 N. Aurora Street, beginning at 7:00 PM.  Please come early for music folder handout.

The Ithaca Community Choruses and the Ithaca Concert Band will jointly celebrate the 40th Anniversary of their founding with a free concert in DeWitt Park on Thursday evening, July 28th, 2016.  Current and former singers from Ithaca Community Chorus and Chamber Singers, Voices, Ithaca Gay Men's Chorus and SummerSing, under the direction of Katie Howell, will join together in a selection of music from classical, Broadway and jazz and Americana repertoires.

Participation in the combined chorus is open to all current and former members of the various choruses.  Please sign up if you are able to join us in this celebration.  Participation is free – no dues or music cost.

Go to the ICC website at http://www.ithacacommunitychoruses.org/40th-anniversary-concert/ for more information and to sign-up.

Please sign up, even if you will miss the first or second rehearsal.  We really need to know who is coming so we can have enough music, chairs, etc.

Save the Date...
Summer Sing has been asked to perform one "concert" this year.  These is an optional event and it would be great if as many people as possible would be able to come.

Sunday, July 31st - we will sing at the Ithaca Unitarian Universalist Church morning service. This will not be a full concert, just 2 or 3 of our songs.

Complete details will be announced later this summer.

CRS Barn Studio/Triphammer Arts Inc seeks chorus members for HMS Pinafore (August 5,6,7, 2016, 7 pm)...
Consider joining the cast of HMS Pinafore this summer! See below for information from Steve Stull, who is directing the production. Please contact Steve with any and all questions.

We have a terrific cast and we're still recruiting choristers - the more the merrier! Please pass the word to your friends and have them get in touch with me. Rehearsals for chorus will happen primarily in the evenings and on the weekends. We're very flexible about dealing with conflicts. Rehearsals will start Saturday - 7/23, so less than two weeks before the show opens. We may have a few musical sessions earlier in July - as people are interested and available.
You can download a score from IMSLP.org - though not all of the vocal scores include the dialogue. Amazon also has some very inexpensive editions (the Schirmer score is under $10.)

If you order from: https://smile.amazon.com -
They make a small donation to Triphammer Arts for each purchase (it will function as your normal Amazon account - just sign up to support Triphammer Arts Inc.)
Or patronize our local Hickey's Music Store!

We will perform outdoors if at all possible - but we'll be in the studio if it rains. Jeannie will choreograph and co-direct. She will adjust movement to your abilities and make you all look good!

Could you please let me know:
1 - if you are still interested and available
2 - your best email and phone numbers
3 - conflicts between 7/23 and 8/7
4 - your preferred voice part
5 - if you know the show or if it's new to you (either is OK!)
6 - or if you need any more information

Rebecca Leistikow as Josephine
Daniel Harry Bates as Ralph Rackstraw
David Neal as Dick Deadeye
