Since 2008 our Community Engagement Programs bring dance to underserved schools, recreation and senior centers throughout New York City's five boroughs.
This is our chance to show our gratitude and hire teaching artists and performing art groups from our Parade roster.
In March 2015 we will begin our Cultural Residencies in New York City Parks Recreation centers, selected schools and "Ageless Action," a program specifically designed to keep seniors moving!
If your school, community or senior center is interested in one of our popular education programs, click here for our Community Engagement brochure.

the dedication, expertise and passion of these individuals that make
our events successful!
In each issue of STEPS!, we choose a volunteer to spotlight. We ask them a few questions to explain the

Thank you Lawrence for taking time for this interview!
How did you first find out about Dance Parade?
My friend Susan Pinsky was involved for many years and introduced me to the Steering Committee.
What is your current role in Dance Parade?
I studied English literature and writing so I’m applying those skills to the marketing committee, editing press releases and helping to create the newsletter.
What is your favorite style of dance to watch?
I like to watch Jazz dance because of the dramatic body movements.
What is your dance background or interest in dance?
I’ve always wanted to take dance instruction but haven’t gotten myself to class. So I’m hopefully going to make associations through the Dance Parade and learn Jazz Dance.

Proceeds
from this event will help aid in production costs for the 9th Annual
Dance Parade and Festival as well as help to fund our Community
