Are you a Parent Carer Interested in Learning to Deliver Training to Support other Parents?

Over the years, we have recruited and trained a number of volunteer parent carers who are now working alongside professional colleagues to deliver our parenting programme for parents and carers of children with Special Needs and or a disability, called Time Out for Parents: Children with Special Needs. We introduced this programme to help support parent carers of children who have a disability, special educational needs, or additional needs, where other courses such as Triple P or SWAPP may not be appropriate, these courses have proven to be highly popular with parent carers attending. These courses are designed for parents and carers of children aged 3 to 11 years to support with the particular challenges faced in raising a child with Special Needs.

Thanks to the ongoing success and popularity of these courses, we have been fortunate in securing additional funding from Wiltshire Council to enable us to recruit and train more volunteer parent carers to deliver these courses, to increase the number of opportunities for parent carers to access this support.

We are looking to recruit more parent carers to volunteer their time and become facilitators to deliver training to support parent carers in Wiltshire as part of this initiative. As a trained facilitator, you would work in partnership with another trained facilitator to deliver training called Time Out for Parents which has been produced by an organisation called Care for the Family. You would be able to claim out of pocket expenses including mileage and childcare expenses incurred by delivering training.

We are excited to be able to build on the success of this initiative and to empower parents to be trained as professionals, so that they can train and support other parents. If you are interested in this opportunity, you would need to commit to six days of training. The training would give you the skills to facilitate groups, and you would be trained to use materials to enable you to deliver a range of sessions that includes a module specifically for parents of children with special needs. You would be able to claim out of pocket expenses including mileage and childcare expenses incurred by attending the training days.

Training is likely to take place on the following days: -

This session is likely to run from 10am and finish no later than 2pm, details including the venue will be confirmed to anyone who submits an expression of interest. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
