What is Reiki, what are its benefits and how solid is the supporting research?
Join Ann L. Baldwin, PhD for an engaging online presentation exploring Reiki through the lens of scientific research. A Professor Emerita at the University of Arizona, Editor-in-Chief of the Center for Reiki Research, and author of two books and more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific publications, Dr. Baldwin combines an academic background in physics with decades of experience studying complementary health approaches.
This presentation will introduce Reiki as a biofield therapy, exploring its origins, how sessions are typically conducted, and the experiences and benefits commonly reported by recipients. Dr. Baldwin will then examine the current body of scientific research investigating Reiki, discussing where the evidence is most encouraging while also addressing the challenges and limitations of the existing studies.
Participants will gain insight into how researchers evaluate the quality of Reiki studies using established reporting guidelines and criteria developed by the Center for Reiki Research. The result is a thoughtful, evidence-informed overview that distinguishes between reported experiences, emerging research findings, and questions that remain open for further investigation. The event attracted over 700 attendees, with many competing in different psi events, while others participated as guest presenters and workshop leaders, all coming together to cheer on the competitors.
