We pride ourselves on always finding entertaining and informative content for our monthly issue of Animal Magic, and I think that we’ve surpassed ourselves this month! We’ve another great new book that demonstrates the fantastic bond that exists between us and our canine companions, told with compassion, love, and inspiration, plus a fantastic free-to-enter competition that gives you a chance to win three Hubble and Hattie titles, very relevant to this time of year. And not only that, but all entries stand a chance of featuring in future issues of our newsletter!
We’re really bursting with pride that the talents of our fabulous duo, Mike&Scrabble, have been recognised by the judges of the British Book Design and Production Awards 2017, and their second book – Mike & Scrabble Too - further tips on training your human – is one of four finalists in the Graphic Novels category of these prestigious industry awards. Winners will be announced at the BBD&PA gala dinner on November 16, at the Millennium Mayfair London Hotel, and we’re keeping everything crossed until then!
All at H&H hope you're enjoying your summer, despite the sometimes awful weather, and look forward to chatting again next month.

Jude Brooks,
NOW IN STOCK – For the love of Scout
Treating blindness with kindness: one dog's incredible journey through life
Adopting a rescue dog is always a journey into the unknown. Our latest release steps into the world of Scout, a rescue dog born with severe visual impairment … and an ability to capture hearts!
Tracey Ison has had a love of animals, of all shapes, sizes, and kinds, since she was a child. As a teen, she embarked on her dream career, and has been working as a veterinary nurse in small animal practice ever since. Tracey also has a particular fondness for dogs, and is a board member and trustee of a local rescue centre.

It was this love of dogs that brought her into contact with Scout, a clumsy, flat-footed, loveable Lurcher. He had been found roaming the streets of County Durham, and had been taken to a local dog pound. He was in a pretty poor state: with malnutrition, mange, and a growth on the front of his chest: his weakened condition also led to him contracting kennel cough.
To add to all that, there was serious concern that he was both blind, and deaf, and that – perhaps – the kindest thing to do would be to euthanaise him. He'd been through a lot, for a four month-old puppy.
But, fortune was smiling on Baby Buttons, as he was then known, and thanks to two very special people, he eventually came into the care of East Midlands Dog Rescue, and that's where Tracey first met him. The rest, as they say, is history … but we'll leave that exciting story for you to discover.
From sad beginnings, and being earmarked for almost certain death, Scout is now a happy, lively, fun-loving dog. He's a shining example of the difference that can be made to a dog's life, with care, love, and understanding.
For the love of Scout is book that every rescue dog owner or adopter should read. It shows how Tracey approached every aspect of living with Scout, and will be a great help to anyone who's experiencing the challenges of their own rescue dog. Above all, it shows that, even with the worst start in life, there's always the chance to turn fortune around, and give a dog a happy, fulfilled life.
For the love of Scout is in stock now at Hubble & Hattie.

Here comes the #dogbus …
They're HERE! The Brighton & Hove bus company's double-barelled Mike&Scrabble-themed dog-friendly bendy-buses are here!
If you're a dog owner and a bus user in the Brighton area, then this is the bus made especially for you. No stranger to sprucing up buses with art and graphics, the Brighton & Hove Bus & Coach Company likes to keep its fleet colourful and eye catching … and what could be more eye catching than Mike & Scrabble, and a whole host of graphic doggy friends?
Rolled out onto the streets last Friday, the buses have proved a huge hit with passengers and pedestrians alike. Of course, the buses haven't simply been jazzed-up to make eye-candy: they have been decorated to show that they're dog-friendly, and the company has 25 such colourful 'bendy-buses' in its fleet.
Nothing says 'dog-friendly bus' more than … well … a bus full of dogs, and the eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a few familiar faces amongst Mike's illustrations. Of course, Mike & Scrabble are there, but can you spot another, rather fabumazing canine, or two? And, as if the bus wasn't amazing enough already, there are two blank spaces, and dog owners are being given the chance to have their own pooches immortalised on the dog bus. Simpy send Brighton & Hove buses a picture of your dog using the #YourDogHere tag, and your faithful companion could appear on the dog bus! Checkout Brighton & Hove buses websiteinstagram, facebook, and twitter for more details!
We think Brighton & Hove buses are on to a winner with the dog bus. In fact, we think EVERY bus company in the land should have a liveried, colourful bus, dedicated to our pooches and pets.
Have YOU seen the dog bus in Brighton, or surrounding area? Have you taken the dog bus into town with your pet? Perhaps your dog is a dead-ringer for one of the artworks on the side, or maybe you're going to send a picture of him to Brighton & Hove buses? We'd love to hear from you with your own stories and pics of the dog bus … send them to newsletter@hubbleandhattie.com and we may use some here!
Mike&ScrabbleToo shortlisted for British Book Design & Production Awards!
