Rising Pop singer/songwriter Meekha has officially released her much-anticipated debut EP, Mercury In Retrograde.
Highlighted by Meekha’s penetrative vocals, Mercury in Retrograde is a collection of six inspired songs that find the singer sharing some of the biggest moments of her life so far.
“Creating Mercury In Retrograde is truly the most important thing I've done in my life. I've had this dream of creating music since I was 12 years old. There was definitely a struggle within me to break through the feeling that I needed permission to follow this dream.”
Available everywhere now, Mercury in Retrograde features Meekha’s debut single, “young,” and its recently released follow-up “chains.”
Produced by Matthew Heath and Gray Griggs, "chains" is an impressively slick pop song that delightfully showcases Meekha’s vocals while addressing universal themes.
"'chains' is very personal, and it’s based on specific times in my life where I felt stuck and powerless but realized my life is only in my hands,” shares Meehka. “We quickly realized this story was very relevant to our society as of late. I hope it can strength to people in all types of difficult situations."
Originally from Denver and now based in Portland, Oregon, Meekha is a striking amalgam of heritage, personality and raw talent. Her nearly indescribable sound combines the emotional vulnerability of Stevie Nicks with the idiosyncratic groove of Tove Lo. She is equal parts pop and classic rock, influenced by everyone from Elvis and The Beatles to Sia and Ariana Grande.
“I really want to make people feel heard and understood, which is what music has always done for me,” shares Meekha.
“People who follow astrology believe Mercury In Retrograde is a time to be dreaded and avoided. But I see Mercury in Retrograde as a time to slow down a little and focus on personal growth.”
