2022/23 Olympiads
 
 
Dear Colleagues,

This newsletter attempts to update you on some of the exciting things that are happening at the Ethics Olympiad as we plan towards 2023. This year we have sucessfully introduced the new case writing competition, we have made available hosting licences to schools and we have introduced a new Ethics Olympiad for tertiary students. All this while continuing to offer successful Junior, Middle and Senior School Ethics Olympiads....along with training clinics for each level as well.
 
We have also welcomed over 20 schools as new members of the Ethics Olympiad in 2022. (See list below)
 
2023 is shaping up to be our most exciting year with a full calendar of events already mapped out.

1. SENIOR SCHOOL ETHICS OLYMPIADS (Years 10-13)

We are now accepting early bird registrations for the Senior High School Ethics Olympiads. Here is a list of places where we are holding Ethics Olympiads.

2. CASE WRITING COMPETITION
 
 
 
The Ethics Olympiad Case Writing Competition is an exciting opportunity for high school students to contribute cases for the Ethics Olympiad. All submitted cases will be considered for use in Junior School, Middle School, Senior School and Tertiary Ethics Olympiad case sets. The Ethics Centre and Humanity Matter NZ are sponsoring the monetary prizes for the competition.


 
3. Training Days

The training clinic involves one full day workshop with speakers from throughout the world. Also involved with be judges from the Ethics Olympiad. The date depends on where your school is located.
 


 



4. Junior School Ethics Olympiads (Years 5/6)

Please note that the first four Junior Ethics Olympiads are all fully subsribed already. We have put on another day in September 2023 for schools to register.

 

 
5. Middle School Ethics Olympiads (Years 7-9)

The Middle School Ethics Olympiads are currently being run throughout November. Here is a list of participating schools.


 
 
6. Hosting Licences

 
Congratulations to the following schools that become Ethics Olympiad host schools in 2022. Throughout the year we have developed software for schools to host their own Ethics Olympiads. In some cases this has been done internally and in other cases the host school has hosted workshops for others schools to participate in face to face Ethics Olympiads. 7. Tertiary Ethics Olympiad

The first every tertiary Ethics Olympiad was held on October 4th 2022. Congratulations to the following eth-letes that won medals at the 2022.Thanks to all the brave eth-letes who participated.
 
Gold Medal: Australian National University-Holly Wallman-Craddock, Josie Carter, Fionn Parker /Coaches James Edgar Lim and Nick Willis
Silver Medal: Australian National University-Thomas Rasmussen, Emily Fleming-Berry & Angela Gao /Coaches James Edgar Lim and Nick Willis (ANU)
Bronze Medal: Monash University-Bridgette Baini, Britney Pham, Sarah Stancombe, Noah Martin & Alexa Yao/ Coach Alex Cain.
