Glossy brochures and slick
marketing materials are a nice
addition to more active forms of
marketing for notes such as
meeting people, calling people
and speaking to people. However,
brochures and business cards, no
matter how beautiful, do not
replace direct contact. If you
are spending money on flashy
marketing materials in the place
of marketing your note business
directly, your profitability
will suffer.
Some of the most effective forms
of marketing your note business
comes from you talking about
your note business to others.
Marketing materials are an
expense, and to be sure they are
working, you need to get some
handle on the return on your
investment. At the very least
you should be tracking where new
business is coming from so you
can get an idea of whether your
marketing materials are
contributing to any new business
you get.

going to work! TWITA! |

Are You Doing Any Deals?
I received a call from a fellow
broker the other day. He called
to see how business was and
asked, "are you doing any
deals"? I said that my business
was fine and that in the last
few months business has actually
picked up for me. He proceeded
to tell me that his business has
slowed way down and that he
didn’t know what happened. He
said that he had been running
his business exactly like he was
when he was getting business 6
to 8 months ago and couldn’t
figure out why it is not still
working. (Do you see where this
is going?)...

Question of
the Week
Q
- Hi Jeff,
I have you say you are the real deal - responsive, straightforward and honest.
After researching note brokering on the internet it seems there are lots of iffy
web sites out there. I have a question: I currently work two jobs, a full time
job and a part time job. I make about $1,400 a month at the part time job. If
I work part time in note brokering can I replace the part time job income and
eventually quit that job? I have about $500 a month to spend on marketing. Thank
you in advance for your time.

Hi David!
Thanks for the email, the praise and the support! Much appreciated, thank you.
The short answer is yes, but it will take a little while. Honestly once you
actually start marketing for business and getting your feet wet it takes at
least 3 months to get your first deal in and closed. This is not a get rich
quick business. It's like any business, usually it takes a while for a business
to get off the ground and our business is a BIG numbers game. The more you
market the more possible deals will come across your desk and the more deals
will get to closing and funding. Most note brokers get over that first deal hump
in the 3-6 month time frame from the time they start marketing, some sooner some
later. Hope this
helps! TWITA! ~ Jeff
