ATFOA lobbying has gone some way to prompt DVSA to commit to increase the number of testers available to carry out HGV MOTs on.
As a result of ATFOA’s campaign, industry associations and key stakeholders were invited to a round table DVSA meeting on 13th June
A number of ATFAO strategies were discussed to help resolve the tester crisis, in the short-term.
However it was recognised that DVSA still need to commit to a long term solution to the crisis, such as, ATFOA's proposal for delegated testing.
ATFOA's chairman, Stephen Smith, said 'waiting times for a test have risen sharply. In March, most respondents claimed there was a 4 to 6 week wait. However, the most recent survey, just last week, revealed an increasin variation towards a 10 week wait in many parts of the country.
The ATFOA has welcomed the DVSA's commitment to looking at a series of strategies to improve the crisis and look forward to the follow up meeting where we can discuss the detail of their response.
ATF's struggling to find a test for customers who have vehicles without MOT's should contact DVSA network business managers (NBM) immediately who will arrange a test.
