Mardi Gras 2026 is February 17th!
Got Cajun/Zydeco?
  Le Travaillant
Cajun and Zydeo - Brings The Bayou Down By You

Hi-

Ethan Sellers from Cajun/Zydeco band Le Travaillant here.  I hope your holidays were wonderful.

You're probably still full and hung over from all of the parties, but... it's time get serious about Mardi Gras season. Carnival starts January 6th and runs up through Mardi Gras - Fat Tuesday, February 17th, this year.

I can think of no better music than Cajun and zydeco to help lift our spirits during a long cold Midwest winter.

With its authentic Louisiana sound, Chicago-based Le Travaillant has been a go-to for authentic Cajun and Zydeco music for over a decade. Although based hundreds of miles from Cajun country in Chicago, the band's mission is to "Bring the Bayou Down By You."

Le Travaillant's name means "the working man," and is a nod to both hard-working people who need to cut loose in their leisure time and to the old Chicago slogan - "Chicago, the City That Works."

Our 4-song EP Gumbo De Mon Pere has received airplay on folk and Louisiana music specialty radio throughout the US and Canada. We take special pride in the fact that the EP was picked up for regular station-wide rotation by several Louisiana-based radio stations.

The title track's lyrics are about a treasured Sellers family tradition that began some 50 years ago with my New Orleans-born father.  You can watch a video about the making of that gumbo here:

Le Travaillant performs in two main configurations to suit the venue/event - our full 5-7-piece Cajun-zydeco dance band and our “backporch style” Cajun acoustic trio. You can check out both on our YouTube playlist. Either version can bring its own sound, and the trio can do completely unplugged performances for more intimate rooms/events.

We would love for you to keep us in mind for your events/bookings. Although Mardi Gras is often our busiest season, any time is a great time for us to Bring the Bayou Down By You!

Yours,

Ethan Sellers
