A NEW HOME ON INTERNET
Today COSMIC
launched their new website: cosmic-sizing.org. The new website has a modern
look-and-feel and a responsive design, so you can easily access it from your
PC, tablet or phone. All content has its own URL, to facilitate search engines
to index all content on the website.
With the new website we also start with a new URL. The URL
cosmic-sizing.org helps to communicate that COSMIC is an open community of
professionals. On the new website you will find the same content that you were
already used to, but organized in a way that should help you find the
information you need much quicker.
We also
introduced a number of new features that help you to spread the word on the
COSMIC method and get in touch with other members of the COSMIC community:
-
You can use the forum to
discuss topics on the use of the COSMIC method. You can join the discussion
when you are registered to the website.
-
You can use the knowledge base
to access publications on the COSMIC method. Here you can find both
publications that are on the website, but also links to papers that are
commercially available. We intend the knowledge base
to be the central point for all COSMIC publications, wherever they are
available. In order to achieve this, we need your help. See the last section in
this newsletter.
-
Social media buttons
on all pages are a quick way to publish a link to a specific page on the
website to your network on LinkedIN, Twitter, Google+, Facebook or
Research Gate.
You'll find buttons on the left and below each page.
-
On the events page
we list all events that are relevant to the COSMIC community with a link to the
original page.
-
On the bottom of
each page you'll find a quick overview of the
latest news,
upcoming events,
the latest forum
posts and replies and
the actual Twitterfeed. This allows you to access actual information in an
quick and easy fashion.
-
We introduced a registration
option on the website. Since COSMIC is an open source organization, registration
is free of course. We only want to know who you are, so you can join the
conversation on the forum and you don't have to fill in your name when you are
downloading one of our free documents. Everyone that registers with the site
gets his own profile page that you can use to upload your picture and tell the
community a little bit about yourself.
We hope that you will enjoy the new website. Although we have
been working hard to make it work perfectly, we know that it is not perfect
yet. If you find something that is not working as you think it should, scroll
down the page and press on Bugs? and fill in a bug report.

JOIN THE DISCUSSION
A longstanding wish of many members of the COSMIC community is
to have a discussion forum to exchange information. This is now available in the COSMIC
User Group on LinkedIN. On the new website we
have created such a forum. When you have registered with the website, you can join the discussion. We have copied
some relevant discussions from the COSMIC User Group to get started.
HELP WANTED
One of the new features of cosmic-sizing.org, the knowledge base of COSMIC publications, is not yet complete. This means that some publications are
still only available on the current COSMICon portal. For the time being we have
shortcuts to the COSMICon portal to make sure that you can always find the
document you are looking for. In the new knowledge base we also make extra meta
information available about the publications, like the DOI, a summary, conference
name or COSMIC version (if applicable). We are looking for people that are
willing to assist in uploading the publications. If you have some time
available (10-15 minutes per document) please contact the webmaster.
