This Week at the Richmond Memorial Library June 14, 2021

We
have some very exciting news to share! We are in the process of putting together a brand new
collection of yard games that will be able to be borrowed from the library,
beginning in just a few weeks. Some of the games that will be available include: Bocce, Croquet, Giant Connect Four, Giant Jenga, Giant Checkers, Molkky, Ring Toss, Kan Jam, Giant Yardzee, and more! If you have a favorite yard game you would like us to add, please let us know in the next week and we will consider it. These items will have a check out loan period of one week.

We're hosting an all ages Game-A-Palooza on Wednesday, June 23! Stop by the library between 1-5 pm and take a look at our new yard game collection. Weather pending, they will be set up outside. Bring a friend of family member and take a turn playing a couple games. The rain date for this event is Friday, June 25. Our yard game collection will be available for check out beginning Monday, June 28. Registration is not required for this event.

Connecticut Historical Society

Not only are our museum passes back, but we have added a few brand new ones that you are not used to seeing here at the Richmond Memorial Library. One such pass is for the Connecticut Historical Society. Our library museum pass admits up to 2 adults and 4 children into the Connecticut Historical Society for free. As a reminder, holds cannot be placed on library museum passes as they are available on a first come, first served basis. There is a one pass per family limit and passes check out for a period of two days.

NEW! Digital Subscription to The New York Times

We
are happy to share that we've been able to purchase a one year
subscription to the digital edition of The New York Times. For
additional information about how to view the newspaper, see our website,
or click www.richmondlibrary.info/new-york-times/.

We have an assortment of leftover Take and Make kits for children and teens that we will be leaving out on the curbside pickup tables for anyone who would like to pick one up. These are available on a first come, first served basis!

Upcoming Adult and Teen Programs...
|
The Richmond Memorial Library building is now open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, Fridays 10 AM to 4 PM, and Summer Saturdays, 10 AM to 1 PM. Curbside pickup services are also available during these times.
We have started to and will continue to host virtual programs for all age groups. Additional information will be found on our website and social media pages, including video tutorials on how to access the virtual formats these programs will be offered in. To register for one of these programs, email the library at richmondprograms@gmail.com.
Monday, July 12 at 6 pm, Beautiful World of Butterflies: Butterflies may be beautiful, but that's not why they're important! Learn about the residents of the Milwaukee Public Museum's Butterfly Vivarium while we get up close and personal with these fascinating animals. This is a virtual program, held on Zoom.
Thursday, July 29 at 6:30 pm, Famous French Apple Tart: A Virtual Baking Program: Adults
and teens, pick up a baking kit in advance of the program, add a couple
ingredients from home (including a round cake pan), and join The Baking Coach's Lisa Basini on Zoom
for a virtual baking program! Lisa will also share the history behind
this amazing apple tart. Limit 24 participants. Email
