The Essex is the real, true story of a Nantucket whaling ship that was rammed and sunk by a sperm whale in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in 1820. This story became the inspiration for Melville'sMoby Dick and Ron Howard's new movie In The Heart of The Sea. The Essex is a World Premiere Project in the Fertile Ground Festival and we do have a limited number of seats set aside for Fertile Ground Festival pass holders. Please make your reservations through the Fertile Ground ticketing. We recommend this program for young adults age 17+ if accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Do you have a coupon, a Portland Story Theater season pass, or special admission to the show? Do you require special seating because of wheelchair, hearing, or vision? Please drop us an email and let us know which night you're coming. We can't wait to see you!
