R.A.'s Stories of Recovery Revealed
RA
The stories in R.A.'s Stories Of Recovery Revealed were initially published in this newsletter years ago. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, some were abridged. In addition, the number of people reading this newsletter has tripled. Therefore, this will be the first opportunity many people will have to read the full versions of these stories.RA
R.A.'s Stories Of Recovery Revealed contains the stories of R.A. members. These accounts follow the same structure used by the program's creators, the pioneers, in their original stories. In these new stories, R.A. members describe, in a general way, what they used to be like, how they found R.A., worked all Twelve Steps, and what they are like now.RA
In R.A., we hope that R.A.'s Stories Of Recovery Revealed, will inspire its readers to go through R.A.'s Step Presentation. They will thoroughly follow all of the pioneers' 'clear-cut directions.' They will fully work all Twelve Steps. They will recover. We believe that R.A.'s Stories Of Recovery Revealed is a valuable addition to R.A.'s Suggested Literature.
I Have Learned So Much
...thanks to R.A., and I am grateful that I still have more to learn.RA
An R.A. Recovery Story

Ifound Recoveries Anonymous over thirty years ago. I soon was taken through R.A.'s Step Presentation. At that time, this consisted of four all-day sessions. They were held once each week for four weeks.RA
In these workshops, we went through R.A.'s Multilith Big Book. We read and discussed every sentence on every page. We followed all of the pioneers' "clear-cut directions." I went through all of the Twelve Steps in this way. Even though I had spent years in other Twelve Step programs, this was the first time I went past the Third Step.RA
I began living in the Tenth and Eleventh Steps. I do this by having R.A.'s Daily Quiet Time. Doing it is R.A.'s way of following the pioneers' "clear-cut directions" for working these steps.RA
I followed the pioneers' suggestion and started introducing myself as "Recovered." Just as I had heard others share, doing this took away the permission to behave insanely and compulsively that I had unintentionally been giving myself by introducing myself with those labels. RA
I started intensively working with others. I have found that this takes me out of myself. I guide newcomers through R.A.'s Step Presentation. Doing this was and continues to be, an extraordinary experience. It is lovely to see people recover and begin to help others.RA

My friends and family still tell me how much I have changed for the better since I found R.A. They tell me that it has transformed my attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors. They say that I am virtually a new person. I give full credit to God and R.A.'s Twelve Step program of recovery.RA
I recently spoke to someone I worked with when I was new to R.A. She was helping me introduce R.A. to a newcomer. She remarked how much my confidence and my sharing have improved. She told me that the message of recovery I now share with newcomers was much more persuasive than when I first started on this journey. I am thankful that God is demonstrating, through me, what He can do.RA
My own experience has proven that R.A.'s Twelve Step program will work for anyone willing to thoroughly follow the pioneers' path. I often talk to those who have been in other fellowships. They are doubtful because they have not found the solution they have been seeking. It is exciting to assure them that they can still get the recovery that the pioneers promise.RA
I know the steps work if you work them. It is so moving for me to share that with someone else who wants to recover. I can, without hesitation, tell them that it takes all of the Twelve Steps to produce all of the results. I point out that Bill Wilson says that the goal of working all of the Twelve Steps is a permanent recovery, and contented useful life.RA
Ican't believe how much my life has changed since I found R.A. I would like to share one of the first examples I had that the R.A. program was working for me. For three years, I was working on making a dollhouse for my mother. But, as you may have guessed, I only worked on it for a short time.RA

a 'spiritual experience.'

Then my character defect of procrastination showed itself. For two years, the dollhouse stayed in cold storage. Then, one day, soon after I had gone through R.A.'s Step Presentation, I took it out and dusted it off. I finished it that weekend. I could see that I had been relieved of my defect of procrastination. It was gone. RA
Having my other character defects removed has also transformed my taking newcomers through R.A.'s Step Presentation. This activity has become much more enjoyable. God has relieved me of my anxiety. I am no longer worried about saying or doing something wrong.RA
God has also removed my fear of speaking at meetings. I can now comfortably lead an R.A. discussion. My experience and recovery have multiplied my desire to carry R.A.'s message to others. Working with others is fantastic! I feel wonderful! RA
I am happy to be part of such a wonderful group of caring friends. Thanks to them, I have learned to appreciate other people. I have learned the joy of placing the welfare of others ahead of my own. I now understand that this does not mean that I ignore my needs. I take care of my family and friends, and then do what I need to do for myself. RA

I value all of the time and energy that has gone into developing R.A.'s Solution-Focused Literature, especially R.A.'s Step Presentation. I am thankful to the pioneers of the program for writing down their "clear-cut directions," so I could follow them. Thanks to R.A., I have learned so much, and I am grateful that I still have more to learn. RA
I am delighted that I found Recoveries Anonymous and its fantastic Twelve Step program of recovery. Most of all, I wish to thank God for restoring me to sanity and doing all those things for me that I had never been able to do for myself. I look forward to you joining us on our miraculous journey. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. RA
