Western Regional Members,
With most of the winter behind us and hopes of spring approaching training and testing are on everyone’s mind. In Walla Walla things are still really wet and getting back in the fields is still a challenge.
The Western Region Board of Directors has been busy finalizing the judging teams for the 2018 testing schedule. The Judges for the spring tests and most of the fall tests are posted and can be viewed:

by Dan Courcy
Hello I am Dan Courcy. I was born in Montreal and moved to Cochrane, Alberta. My wife Cathy and I live in a rural area just west of Calgary on the way to Banff, Alberta. I retired 3 years ago I used to be in the entertainment business moving equipment for groups like Bruno Mars and Pitt Bull. I also handled moving needs for circuses like Ringling Brothers within Canada and back and forth to the US. My wife Cathy worked for Revenue Canada and yes she was a tax collector - everybody's best friend.
As a boy I would hunted with my dad for big game deer and moose and never for birds. When I moved out west, in 1994, that's when I started hunting for ducks and geese with my lab. Most of my friends I hung around with all had labs. Then about 4 years ago I went to my 1st NAVHDA trial in Montana. All of the dogs were pointers. I was very impressed with this style of hunting and I decided to make the switch from a flushing dog to a pointer.
Since retirement was just around the corner, December 2014, I knew I had to find something to keep me busy. This is when I was introduced to DKs. The individual walked out of his motorhome with his GSP and said it was a Deutsch Kurzhaar.....
The WR Board of Directors has finalized the 2018 WR Test Schedule. We will be conducting Derbies/Zuchtschau in Walla Walla, WA and Cedar Fort, UT. Fall tests will take place in Logan, UT and Walla Walla, WA.
The WR Board has attempted to appoint judging panels that are both competent and present the least possibility of conflicts. Please review the schedule and announced judges carefully. Judges will not be changed to eliminate conflicts. It will be the leader’s responsibility to find a test where conflicts do not exist.
If you have not entered a Derby please do so ASAP. The test in Utah is already full and one day in Walla Walla is committed. Information regarding who to contact for each WR test is available on the Test Schedule.
