Sometimes, extrasensory perception or ESP type events seem to occur during counselling sessions. Dr. Jim Carpenter has noticed this type of event in a number of his sessions, and they aren’t rare. From the beginnings of psychology, Freud noticed apparent ESP events during psychotherapy, and though many counsellors don’t report these events, enough have been reported that it’s valuable to explore WHY these events occur. Do they have meaning related to the client’s growth and healing?
Dr. Jim Carpenter is a clinical psychologist with many years of wide-ranging experience as a therapist. He is a Fellow and past board-director of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, and has published widely in the areas of psychotherapy and mental health. He has also been an experimental parapsychologist since his undergraduate days at Duke when he became involved with the Parapsychology Lab.
He published a book of theory in parapsychology (First Sight: ESP and Parapsychology in Everyday Life), and is a past president of the Parapsychological Association.
