Next Wednesday we welcome Leigh Preston FRPS MPAGB EFIAP FIPF back to BPS, when he will be presenting his new talk: Night Walk.
This is Leigh's most recent project, but it includes some images from his Darkroom days. Low-light photography that gives an atmosphere has always been a source of fascination, so in recent months he has spent time with a tripod, using longish exposure times and nervous energy in dodgy places at 2am!
|
|
You can see the types of photography that excite Leigh and read more about him, by visiting his website: www.leighpreston.co.uk
Below are a few images from the talk:

PDI Competition - Round 3 |
Round 3 of the 2025-26 PDI Competition season was held last Wednesday, ably judged by our own Steve Field. Steve said at the beginning of the evening that he was nervous about judging in front of a "home crowd" - he needn't have worried because he gave us an evening that was enjoyed by all and I suspect that many of the participants in the competition went home having learned something.

THE TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
The results are out and Sue O’Connell is delighted to be one of this year’s winners. Open to both professional and amateur photographers, this annual competition now attracts 20,000 entries from 160 countries.
This is quite an amazing achievement and in addition to the recognition, the reward for her endeavours is a trip to Sri Lanka later this year! It will also include technical support and mentoring from the TPOTY team.
Results are already on the BBC websites and elsewhere.
Congratulations to our long-term member! Well Done, Sue |
Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
|
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include them in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).
|
IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes |
Please don't forget that if you change your
address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions,
it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know
so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that
you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk.
The distinctions we have on record are those
shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell
us we can't possibly know!
DO NOT REPLY TO THE NEWSLETTER. |
For those of you who aren't sure what MPAGB, EFIAP/s and many more such
seemingly random collections of letters mean, just click here to see the list.
