Katie's Korner...
Hello Summer Sing,

You are a tough group in the best possible way - I worked you pretty hard at our last rehearsal and you ate it all up and asked for more! Thanks for your positivity and good musical energy.

Excellent work on J'entends le Moulin in particular. I had felt a bit concerned heading into rehearsal about making it through those tricky key changes, but you picked them up very quickly. I have heard feedback that the most difficult part of this piece for many folks is managing the French pronunciation and the difficult music at the same time. One of our French-speaking choir members is working on making a practice recording of the pronunciation by itself - be on the lookout for information from Ed.

Two things about Kganna Koloi: First, I said the wrong language in rehearsal the other day: the song is actually in Sotho, not Seswtana. Second, I've also been asked for phonetics for the song, but other than the title, I have not been able to track down the words. So I am not positive of the spelling of the words, but here is my estimation of how they should sound phonetically:

Soprano:
Hah-nah koh-loy, Hah-nah koh-loy, Hah-nah koh-loy-ee.
Ah, wee lay muh-lah-wee

Alto, Tenor, Bass:
Kee-muh sah-wuh-nah, Kee-muh sah-wuh-nah, Kee-muh sah-wuh-nah,
Chway-lah Kee-muh sah-wuh-nah

I look forward to seeing you all next week!

All the best,
Katie
