This Sunday, September 20th, Lawrence Howard and Lynne Duddy will be collaborating with Hilary Thomas and the Lineage Dance Company of LA in a special benefit performance for Portland's Pure Dance Company. See the latest full-length work by Artistic Director, Hilary Thomas and her acclaimed contemporary dance company, Lineage Dance. With original music composed for the piece by musician John Guth and cutting-edge visual images by Los Angeles-based artists, the dance moves effortlessly between the right and left brain – playing intuition off rational thinking and back again. Storytellers Lynne Duddy and Lawrence Howard weave facts and stories about the brain with a twist of comedy. Using movement as the lens to investigate what we know about how the brain works, as well as how it breaks down, the viewer is drawn into a visceral experience of mind over matter. The signature style of Lineage Dance, a powerful athleticism blended with a lyrical grace, forms the architecture of the dance work that asks questions, reveals answers and shares the wonder of the human brain. The show starts at 2 pm at the World Trade Center, 121 SW Salmon Street. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students / seniors. You may buy tickets in advance from lineagedance.org or you can email Portland Story Theater to hold your seat reservations@portlandstorytheater.com and then pay at the door.
