Dear reader,
In October we will exchange new ideas and developments on the COSMIC method during the IWSM conference. The IWSM conference will be held on October 7-9 in Haarlem in the Netherlands. We will bring an interesting mix of academic research and industry experience. During the conference at least 7 research papers on COSMIC will be presented and at least 3 industry speakers will share their experience on applying the COSMIC method.
To stimulate the use of the COSMIC method, COSMIC will be issuing awards for achievements that help to promote the COSMIC methods. The categories that will be awarded this year are:

The best research papers on COSMIC – published between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019 are eligible for the COSMIC research award. Please send in your nominations on or before August 15. |

The organization with the highest number of projects submitted to the ISBSG database is eligible for the COSMIC benchmarking award. Please send in your nominations on or before September 15. |
|
The organization with the highest number of certified professionals in the COSMIC method is eligible for the certification award. Please send in your nominations on or before September 15. |

Nominate COSMIC research
We have already received some interesting research papers, but if you know of a paper on COSMIC that deserves to be awarded, let us know. You don’t have to be the author of the paper to nominate a research paper.
We have received nominations for research from India, the Middle East, the Americas and Europe. This research deals with topics like:

· Early estimation
· Automation
· Testing
