Demand
protection for conscientious objectors from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine
By Connection e.V. (Germany) Please Send an email to leading politicians of the European Union! - https://en.connection-ev.org/eMailAction-form Thousands of
people are being forced to fight a war they do not approve of. Help us now to
remind leaders in the European Union of their words that these people need
protection and support. More than a year ago, European Council President
Charles Michel had already declared, "If you do not want to participate
in the killing of your Ukrainian brothers and sisters ...then lay down your
arms and leave the battlefield." Michel called on the EU to grant
asylum to those soldiers who defy Russian deployment orders. These words
must finally be followed by action. In mid-May
2023, peace organizations from all over Europe will present a petition to the EU Commission to ensure
that deserters and conscientious objectors from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine
receive protection and asylum. So far, more than 34,000 signatures have been
collected in support. These signatures are presented in a high-profile action
on May 15 in Berlin and Brussels.
