K Melling Studio-Gallery Newsletter
  Autumn 2012
Dear All,
This is the first newsletter from K Melling Studio, which I intend to send out every now and then. You are receiving it because you have either made a previous order from my website, or perhaps have just made an enquiry. I’ve taken the liberty of adding you to my mailing list… hope you don’t mind. You can easily unsubscribe if you wish (see foot of email).
Well, where do I start?
Seeing as the year is gathering pace towards winter and the season of merriment and goodwill; I’ll mention my calendar which is produced solely for the benefit of the Pendleside Hospice Charity. This is the eighth year I’ve been doing this and so far it’s raised over £66,000. The calendar, which is high quality, is unbelievably good value at only £5. It can be obtained from Pendleside Hospice or their associated shops. www.pendleside.org
Book
The 1st edition of my book ‘Keith Melling: An Artist in the Dales’ is still available, though numbers are dwindling. I’ve decided to sign the remaining copies. I should think this would make an excellent present for anyone interested in the Yorkshire Dales, or for that matter, anyone interested in my paintings (it’s packed full of illustrations). Dales book
I’m currently working, on and off, on a book about the Pendle area (title undecided yet – any ideas?) I can’t say when it’ll be finished, maybe sometime next year; anyway I’ll keep you informed.

Work in progress

As well as the ‘Pendle book’, I’ve been working on a largish canvas of an autumn scene showing the River Wharfe near Grassington (actually nearer to the little suspension bridge at Hebden). I started doing it in quite a free textural style, but have gravitated to painting it more detailed, sometimes I have to let the painting go where it wants to go. It’s coming along nicely at the moment, but there’s much to do yet. Below is a clip of a, more or less, finished section of the upper right corner.

I’ve lots more to write about, but I’ll leave that for another day.

Kind Regards
Keith
