"Digital Unmasking" to Identify Violent ICE Agents - The Washington Post highlighted legislation I'm introducing to preserve the ability for victims of violent ICE misconduct to seek justice in court against anonymous agents. My bill would have the state use widely available police technology to help identify suspects after serious incidents (think license plate scans, cell phone pings, location data, facial recogition, etc):
WASHINGTON POST: "Maryland House Majority Leader David Moon has proposed a 'digital unmasking' law to identify these agents another way: requiring Maryland law enforcement to proactively investigate and collect identifying information...."
"'I’ve wondered if something bad happens, will there be any for accountability for people?' Moon said. 'This is a way to reassure the public that Maryland is doing something to keep the avenues open for the rule of law and redress.'"
