What if the most honest and essential parts of yourself were laid out in front of you as a dark terrain only you could traverse? Existential, yes, but it’s a question that, Devin Coogan, otherwise known as CHILD, continually tries to answer with his craft – a hypnotic blend of poptronica, indie-alternative and neo-soul informally known as experimental pop. He is the consummate artist – a musical explorer – perpetually looking for undiscovered sonic territory. “What if I did first what most artists do last?” This is the question CHILD posed to his creative team. He casted the vision, and together they built the CHILD LIVE EXPERIENCE ... capturing CHILD's DEBUT concert in one take.

Within a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling room of white, the stage and lighting were minimalist yet elegantly excellent for CHILD || LIVE EXPERIENCE. Start to finish the show was charted out in Ableton Live; synced to lighting and soundscapes. The team uniquely utilized analog instruments, electric drums, and vocoders. Every synth used in the studio made it on stage. The videography alone is worthy of its own press: a crane, multiple static-shots, and an ever-moving cameraman [Josh Etheridge Film].
CHILD || LIVE EXPERIENCE had approximately 45 minutes of music. Though three songs were recorded, audience members that night heard up and coming music too. As successful as that night was, it’s just the beginning—a new standard to rise from. For viewers and listeners, this release completes the picture of CHILD in 2020. It represents not only CHILD's live debut, but the power of interdependency. CHILD is an artist, as well as a team.

Born and raised in New England and currently based in Raleigh, NC, CHILD encapsulates what often makes alternative pop music so remarkable – familiar melodies and hooks, as well as evocative lyrical depth. It’s no surprise that CHILD draws influence from artists like James Blake, Bon Iver, The Tallest Man On Earth, Coldplay, and Billie Eilish.
CHILD is one of the first artists to sign with AESTHETYK, founded by music industry veteran, Matt Ingle. Ingle’s penchant for unearthing innovative and inspiring artists is something he has enthusiastically carried on for over 20 years.
