We are presenting our regular new writing showcase in which writers are challenged to develop different takes on a single theme. This time the theme is "Occupation" and two plays on this theme will be performed at the King's Arms, Salford as rehearsed readings for two nights.
In "Camouflage" by Steve Timms a British army camp overseas is forced by the cost-conscious UK Government to become a pilot for a new scheme to privatise the storemasters section of the army.
And in "Facing North" by Callum Mitchell, set in an unnamed country in the process of occupation by an invading army, a farmer and his pregnant wife attempt to flee across the border into neutral territory - which brings them into direct conflict with a ruthless army captain.
