INVITE: PROTEST AGAINST ILLEGAL ARREST OF PALESTINIAN BDS LEADER [FRI, 14 AUG, 11H00, SANDTON] |
In the early hours of 30th July 2020, Israeli soldiers broke into Palestinian BDS leader Mahmoud Nawajaa home's, handcuffed and blindfolded him, and marched him out, in front of his wife and two small children. He is currently being prohibited from seeing his lawyer and is being kept in detention without having had a trial. Nawajaa is a fearless activist who is a leader within the BDS boycott of Israel movement and has shown his endless commitment towards a free and peaceful Palestine. We warmly recall his Latin America speaking tour with one of our Board Members a few years back. #Africa4Palestine will be holding a protest together with our partners outside the Israeli Embassy (Sandton Office, ) on Friday (14 August 2020 at 11h00) demanding Nawajaa's release together with all Palestinian political prisoners. Members of the media are invited to cover the protest where strict social distancing measures will be followed.

VIDEO: RESIDENTS OF THE HOLY CITY OF JERUSALEM DO THE JERUSALEMA DANCE CHALLENGE |
The South African smash hit, "Jerusalema" (by Master KG and Nomcembo Zikode) with its accompanying dance challenge has taken the world by storm. The dance craze has been compared to the popularity of the 1990’s "Macarena" song and dance. Jerusalema with its infectious beat has sparked a global dance frenzy in countries including Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Germany, Portugal...and now even in Palestine - the home of Holy and Old City of Jerusalem!
Residents of Jerusalem, where Jesus Christ once walked, have posted their version of the #JerusalemaDanceChallenge - CLICK HERE TO WATCH.
The Palestinian youth from the Old City of Jerusalem and members of the Palestinian "Jaw Band" who performed the dance have dedicated it to their "friends in South Africa". They have explain that: "As our leaders before us, let us unite with renewed energy towards collective liberation from Palestine to South Africa. Amandla!"
