Hello music lovers!

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS...

In The Green RoomWe've got lots of musical treats in store this month, including a new regular night presented by Roundtable Collective. “IN THE GREEN ROOM” will be a relaxed yet action-packed dynamic podcast-inspired show featuring a panel of hand-picked featured guests, with live performances, engaging discussions and a hat full of surprises! Each 'episode', will feature different special guests, and we are excited to kick it off this month (Sun 27th Oct) with an extra special line up - powerhouse Australian singer-songwriter LIZ STRINGER, South African-born singer-songwriter TIM GERARD and dynamic Australian indie-folk duo McDERMOTT & NORTH. You won't want to miss this!

Sam Robbins + Halley NealTomorrow night (Thurs 17th Oct), we have a very special Green Note debut from US duo SAM ROBBINS & HALLEY NEAL. Robbins is often described as an “old soul singer songwriter” whose music evokes classic singer songwriters like James Taylor and Jackson Browne, with a modern, upbeat edge. He has gained a reputation as one of the brightest rising stars in the US folk music community. Neal's live shows center on themes of positivity and peace, her sound blending effortless layered vocals with Americana production, and is rooted in classic 60’s and 70’s folk. Robbins and Neal will be sharing songs, stories and harmonising all night - this is a special chance to see two rising stars in the American folk scene in their first ever London show

Michelle WillisWe're also looking forward to a special matinee show with British-born, Canadian-raised MICHELLE WILLIS (Sat 19th Oct) - a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has amassed an impressive resume touring and recording with myriad musicians (David Crosby, Michael McDonald, Becca Stevens, Snarky Puppy, Iggy Pop and others). If you feel like checking out some new music, you might like to take the late great David Crosby's recommendation: "One of my favourite singers in my whole life… just amazing… fluid, powerful, graceful… such a fine writer… a SOULFUL, rich, deep player and bandleader who just swings as if her life depended on it.

Abe PartridgeWe also look forward to a much anticipated appearance from ABE PARTRIDGE - a heralded musician, singer-songwriter, visual artist based in Mobile, Alabama (Mon 28th Oct). American Songwriter Magazine said, “Abe Partridge has established himself as one of the most respected songwriters and visual folk artists in the southeast.” He will be accompanied by UK singer-songwriter DAVID FORD who will also be opening the show. Another unmissable highlight is dynamic transatlantic trio A DIFFERENT THREAD, playing their acclaimed ‘British-Americana’ show (Sun 20th Oct). Known for their hair-raising vocal harmonies, intricate guitar, soulful fiddle, harmonica, and Alicia’s distinctive suitcase drum-kit, the band has forged a minimalist yet powerful sound that resonates deeply with listeners!

October is also the month of Halloween... and we're not missing out! Some of our fave Green Note regulars BETTY & THE BOOTLEGGERS will be doing a Halloween Special, bringing the spirit of the 1950s and 1960s back to life with their high-energy rhythm and blues, gospel infused tunes, alongside some spine-chilling Halloween anthems that will have you dancing, shuffling and howling all night long (Thurs 31st Oct)!

GREEN NOTE HITS THE ROAD...
JawariWe also have some fantastic shows coming up at our homes away from home this month, including a very special album launch show with interdisciplinary collective JAWARI. Directed by contemporary sitarist, Tommy Khosla, JAWARI have been working on their debut LP, ROAD RASA, for the last two years. Inspired by contemporary, classical and folk traditions including Indian classical music, Cumbia and poetry, JAWARI present a unique embodiment of global jazz. A unique opportunity to hear ROAD RASA in the intimate and beautiful setting of St Pancras Old Church, and to experience the JAWARI collective in full force (Fri 25th Oct).

Izzie YardleyWe've also got an EP release show from IZZIE YARDLEY (Mon 28th Oct @ Water Rats) who has attracted critical recognition as a singer, lyricist and multi-instrumentalist, crafting detailed songs laced with imagination, emotion and beguiling complexity, which draw from British folk traditions as well as the jazz and classical music she grew up on. Her captivating and unfettered live performances, which take on more of an improvisational quality when with her band – Nick Pini (Laura Marling, Nick Mulvey), Ethan Johns (Crosby, Stills & Nash, Ray Lamontagne) and Luke Potashnick (The Temperance Movement), are earning her a rapidly growing audience.

Guy DavisBritish folk artist HANNAH SCOTT also releases her powerful new album this month - “Absence Of Doubt”, the first she has co-produced - “She reduces women and children to tears – in a good way…” The Guardian. This one also comes highly recommended (Weds 23rd Oct @ Slaughtered Lamb)! As does the return by GUY DAVIS - described as “… one of the most gifted acoustic musicians on the planet” by Blues Blast Magazine (Sun 20th Oct @ Water Rats). Multi instrumentalist Davis is a two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues, musician, actor, author, songwriter, so much more than ‘just a bluesman’, a troubadour of the folk tradition, and a master of his craft. Guy’s work has seen him perform alongside Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Dr John, Taj Mahal and Joss Stone, opening for Chuck Berry, Joan Armatrading, and BB King, and perform all over the globe. Not to be missed!

Henri HerbertAnd finally, only a few tickets left for Boogie and Blues piano phenom HENRI HERBERT (Thurs 24th Oct @ 100 Club). After his sensational sell out show last year, Herbert returns to the 100 Club for one night only to celebrate the CD release of his “Live in New York” album – a recording of Henri on solo piano at the legendary Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. Check out this video of him (which has received 71 million views!) to see what all the fuss is about!
