of the Month
"Kat, this month's newsletter was FABULOUS! Thanks for providing information and plenty of laughs. (I LOVED the video of your grandso, this is precious!)"
Bette Gove

Hello and Welcome-
So, if it's October you must know that we are neck deep in our shipping boxes which are headed to Houston for the Fall Quilt Market and Quilt Festival in a day or two. And not only that, my siblings and I are throwing our folks a 60th anniversary party on Saturday night. All this to say, I don't quite have my wits about me at the moment, so I hope everything's in order with this newsletter... and if it's not, well... I'm not surprised! :)

So whatcha say? Shall we proceed?

Blog of the Month- Bloomin' Workshop
Sewing has evidently always been Anita’s passion, ever since she made a polyester pantsuit for her first 4-H project. Now she works in a quilt shop, teaching and designing quilt patterns.  Some of her quilt designs can be found at Clothworks Textiles.
But YOU can enjoy her blog anytime you want! She's got a lot of tutorials and free projects there, many of which I think you'll find interesting. I love these "HOT" pot holders, and i like this little tutorial about turning your sketches into appliques

New Word of the Month- Mathemagician

  1. a. (n.) Someone who plays tricks with numbers.

Paris- 9/24/13:   Cats and coffee are two of my favorite things in the world. When they’re brought together, they create a small patch of earthly paradise. For years I’ve been wistfully reading news reports about cat cafes in Japan and other East Asian nations and wondering if they’d ever make their way to the western world. And behold! Now they have. First Vienna, then London ... and now Paris.
Earlier this month, Le Café des Chats opened in the city's hip Marais district. With the help of 12 cats, all of whom were adopted or rescued, cafe manager Margaux Gandelon is providing “purr therapy” for Parisians afflicted with the inability to have cats in their tiny apartments.  (Click HERE to read more)

Forbes Magazine, 8/6/13:   When you look at the short but potential-packed career of Moziah Bridges, one gets the impression that this is a young man in a hurry. The Memphis, Tennessee-based youth is carving himself a place in the fashion world one bow tie at a time.
Young Master Bridges – Mo, for short – has been designing and sewing his own ties since his grandmother taught him how when he was nine years old. Like all innovators, his product ideas rose out of a lack he saw on the market. (Click HERE to read more)

Monthly Trivia-
Today is Wednesday, October 9th, the 282nd day of 2013 and just in case you didn't know it, we're in the midst of Fire Prevention Week. There's a terrific website devoted to this week with all sorts of tips and activites for kids, families and teachers.
Today is also the birthday of two of my favorite musicians, Jackson Browne, born 10/9/1950 in Heidelburg, Germany, and John Lennon, who was born 10/9/1940 in Liverpool, England. And if today is also YOUR birthday, here's a great BIG "Happy Birthday to YOU" from StudioKat Designs. And if today is not your birthday, you can enjoy the day anyway, by listening to either of these clips... my favorites by our birthday boys. So, enjoy!
Fountain of Sorrows- Jackson Browne 1974
Jealous Guy- John Lennon (1971)

Well, that's it for now, so until next month, remember!
