Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We are delighted to announce a very special celebration of the publication of Harper Lee's long-awaited book, Go Set a Watchman. On Tuesday, July 14th, at 7:30 p.m.*, Word for Word will do a dramatic reading from To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic.
The publication of Lee's newly discovered novel (which goes on sale Tuesday) is an historic literary event. Go Set a Watchman is the earliest known work from the beloved author of one of the country's bestselling and most beloved novels. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014. (To pre-order a copy, stop by or call today and save 20% off the cover price.)
Word for Word is San Francisco's award-winning ensemble whose mission is to tell great stories through their performances of classic and contemporary fiction. They are known for "their brilliant inventiveness in performance, choreography, and staging," and have created "a deeply affecting experience." - Tobias Wolff.
Don't miss this wonderful event here at Bookshop West Portal on Tuesday, July 14th, at 7:30 p.m.!
