       We have the annual Paper Source Note Symposium coming up at the end of the month in Las Vegas, NV and I hope you are making your plans to attend if you haven't already.  It is the place to rub elbows with actual practitioners in the note business and associated niches in the cash flow industry.

Many of us in the note business work at home alone most of the time and it is a wonderful opportunity to be able to meet the people we work with throughout the year face to face.  New or experienced, if you only attend one Note Business gathering per year, this is the one to be at.

       I am always amazed and surprised that even after being the the Note Business for over 24 years now I still learn something new every year. Sometimes they are little things that just make it easier for me to do my business more efficiently, other times it is a new way to purchase a note and still other times it is just the right amount of motivation I need to do continue to strive to do my best throughout the year.

Q - Hi Jeff,

          Do you have buyers for non real estate notes ? I have a client that sold a business about 6 years ago and has been receiving payments all along. Value of note is around $2 million now. There is a filed secured interest in the note by a guaranty personally of the seller.  Thank you,

A - Hi John!

          Thanks for the email! Yes, we do purchase business notes where the seller of the business carried back the note to facilitate the sale of the business. However, we usually do not put any more than about $300-500,000 or so into any one business note. What that means on the $2MM note you mentioned is that we would most likely only buy a part of the note (a couple years of payments or so) to get to the maximum we would be comfortable with at this time.
