The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

President's Corner

Trying to stay motivated in the Note Business can be a challenge as a lot of people in our industry work alone and at home.  One suggestion to keep motivated is to strive for accomplishment, not perfection. Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes. Realize that eagerness for perfection is one of the worst enemies when it comes to self-motivation. It is quite disheartening and often leads to procrastination.  In addition, self-criticism is constructive but only when limited. There will always be more successful people than you and you will always strive for more. Undoubtedly, it runs in our human nature. Turn your discontent for what you haven’t done into a powerful motivation for what you would like to do better. It’s all about having the right mindset in terms of your success.  Remember, Success Demands Action! Keep on marketing, it’s going to work! TWITA!

The True Note Market

I just have to giggle when I get a call from a newbie note broker asking me what’s the hottest market to go after so they can get deals right away OR from a note broker who stopped doing business a few years back and wants to know what’s hot now and if it is a good time to get back in the business.  I giggle because for me the question has never been whether it’s a hot market for notes, or a cold market for notes. What matters is... Read More...

Question of the Week

Q - Hi Jeff,

I have followed your website and newsletter for some time now and am even having one of my employees take your Secrets of Paper home course. We are active buyers of tax liens and are just beginning to enter the note world as brokers and/or potential buyers. One question that I have and have searched everywhere without success for the answer is this - if we are holding an owner financed note, how do we report that to the credit bureaus and show that as an open mortgage on the buyers credit? I hope you can help me out and keep up the great content on the site!  Thanks many times over.

                                             ~ Gaylon

A - Hi Gaylon!

Thanks for the email and the positive feedback!  For the notes that I personally hold they are all collected by servicing companies and the servicing companies report to the credit bureaus on my behalf.  I do not personally report to the credit bureaus. If you would like the names of a servicing company or two feel free to email me. Hope this helps!

                                              ~ Jeff
