15 January 2020

Via Expo wishes you a good New Year filled with keen ideas and business opportunities!

We are optimistic for 2020. The EC is launching an ambitious environmental policy, which will speed up activities in South-East Europe in the areas of financing, digitalization and decarbonisation. As an EU member state, Bulgaria is investing in new solutions. In December 2019, the Sofia Municipality presented the Digital Transformation Strategy for Sofia. It was developed as part of the European Commission’s Digital Cities Challenge initiative. Among the strategy aims are the implementation of over 50 e-services and improvement of business environment.

The citizens of Sofia will also benefit from cleaner and more comfortable urban transport thanks to the introduction of new electric buses, financed by a loan from EBRD and the Green Energy Special Fund (GESF). A digital hub will be built up in Blagoevgrad.

In the context of the need for better understanding of IoT and its uses, we continue to popularize new solutions and alternatives for smart cities management. These topics together with renewables and energy efficiency, air quality and recycling issues are included in seeSUSTAINtec - South-East European Exhibition and Forum for Sustainable Technologies (7-9 April 2020, Sofia, Bulgaria). Up until now companies from Bulgaria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Switzerland have joined the event.

How can photovoltaics reduce CO2 and why is it worth investing in RES?
Climate neutrality is a term, which is gaining more popularity. It will be the focus of Velizar Kiryakov's presentation within the frame of the forum. He will examine the benefits of generating and using photovoltaics and will point out the steps to panel installation in Bulgaria. He will also draw attention to the carbon offset schemes.
