THIS WEDNESDAY
FILTHY BOY + LITTLEMORES + BULLIES
Wed 29th Jan 2014, 8pm £6 Adv
Head of Steam, Newcastle upon Tyne
Noir rock from London's superb Filthy Boy. Support comes from TKASG faves and York-based Littlemores. We are also delighted to welcome back Edwyn's sone, Will Collins with his band, Bullies. This is a cracking line up.
If you don't make this one then you're definitely in the naughty corner.

THIS THURSDAY - FIRST BORO SHOW OF 2014
SAMANTHA CRAIN + McCORMICK + CHRIS FINN
Thur 30th Jan 2014, 7.30pm £7 Adv
Westgarth SC, Middlesbrough
We are proud to present an exclusive north east date from the highly talented Samantha Crain. Although initially inspired by the sounds of her father's record collection, including Bob Dylan and Neil Young, an adolescent Crain took even greater solace in the music of her home state, from the Americana of Woody Guthrie to the sonic experiments of the Flaming Lips.

Based in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and of Choctaw heritage Samantha has been building a following in the US and beyond over the last couple of years, including Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit who took her out on tour last year and have been long time supporters of her music.

"One of the 5 Best Things we Saw at SXSW ... impossible not to be charmed…”SPIN
“For us, she is a role model and an inspiration. She is an amazing songwriter and a powerful live artist, full of energy and a great sense of humour. And what a voice!”  Klara and Johanna Söderberg (First Aid Kit)

Influenced by: Neil Young, Woody Guthrie, Jason Molina, Sufjan Stevens
For fans of: Sharon Van Etten, Gillian Welch, First Aid Kit, Laura Marling

JAMES BAY + HELEN HAMMILL + HEATHER STORY
Sat 15th Feb 2014, 7.30pm £6.50 Adv
Westgarth SC, Middlesbrough
James Bay is a 22 year-old artist who possesses that untarnished strain of talent that many newcomers lose as they develop over time. His raw expressions and graveled voice work in a magical unison that captivates audiences and strips pop melodies back to a skeletal efficiency. Bringing his own twist to the music of his heroes Carole King, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne and James Taylor,

James is a young singer-songwriter hailing from the small town of Hitchin in the UK, who has already gained a great reputation thanks to stints at London’s Blue Flowers Club, supporting Laura Mvula, and the Communion monthly night at Notting Hill Arts Club. He recently opened for Rae Morris across the UK after taking the US by storm.

There is a decidedly vintage feel to his style, both in appearance and musicality and you can appreciate the influences of the US on this young singer/songwriter. His acoustic folk has a quiet intimacy to it that feels older than his years. His live show is mesmerising - you can hear a pin drop.
