Composed is the debut album from Scottish musician Dougie McCance, otherwise known as Dougie the Piper.

This superb album is packed full of his original compositions.

Since 2009 Dougie has toured the world with the sizzling Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

In January he reached the final of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition.

He is no stranger to recording in a studio environment, having recorded 3 albums with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and played on the soundtrack to DreamWorks film How to Train your Dragon 2.

In September 2017 he recorded his album with back up from a carefully selected group of musicians.. resulting in a stunning unique album.

Guest appearances: Ali Hutton (electric guitar),Katie MacFarlane (vocals).

"This is the first recording that really reflects me as a musician, which is exciting but also pretty terrifying! It s quite daunting letting other people hear your work. I ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to record on various projects over the years but I am now at the point in my career where I want to release my own material that reflects me as a musician and showcases my own personal tastes in my tune writing. I have been writing my own tunes for over five years but I didn t ever play any of them in public until I took part in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the year competition. Playing a medley of my own tunes not only in front of my peers but also to such a prestigious panel of judges really gave me the confidence to perform my own material and start working towards writing and recording my own solo album." Dougie McCance.
This double album features songs and tunes linked to Tiree, performed by singers and musicians from the Islands and friends.

The Tiree Songbook was originally commissioned by The Tiree Association for A’ Bhuain 2016, Tiree's Homecoming Week for island descendants worldwide. It was reprised at Celtic Connections 2017.

The Songbook team would like to thank The Tiree Association for its generous and unstinting support of the project throughout, and also the Tiree Windfall Fund for its invaluable financial support.

Recorded at An Talla, Tiree, May 2016 (A’ Bhuain); Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, January 2017 (Celtic Connections); Watercolour Music, Ardgour, May/September 2017; Crois Geur Studio, Kilmoluaig, Tiree, July 2017; National Piping Centre, Glasgow, September 2017.
