SummerSing Chorus Newsletter
Katie's Korner...

Dear Summer Sing,

Thank you so much for a wonderful concert last night! You sounded beautiful. It was such a treat to share the music we've been practicing for the past couple of months. There is something about having an audience that changes a choir's energy - giving us focus and inspiring a full sound!

The sing-along was also so much fun! I was so pleased to see that almost the entire audience sang the whole time! That was great. I'm sorry I didn't do all of those that I listed - a few of you were sad that we didn't get to sing "Hey Ho, Nobody Home" - I could just feel the group energy starting to sag a bit in the warmth of the evening.

I was very happy to learn that "Puff, the Magic Dragon" was written here in Ithaca! That is so cool! That was a favorite song when I was growing up, and I sang it with my own kids when they were little. Here's a video of my youngest, who is now seventeen, singing Puff back when she was two years old. What a cutie.

I have so many thank yous:

The first one goes to our wonderful Julia Phillips. She is such a talented musician, as well as being a good friend. Thank you, Julia - you are wonderful!

Thank you so our Steering Committee - you did an AMAZING job of putting everything together, from Joanna organizing the music and folders to Marcie being in charge of the newsletter to Carol organizing the potluck to John taking care of our physical set-up and tear-down each week to Ed overseeing everything as we made the transition to working as a team; really thank you to ALL the steering committee members who met monthly and made sure everything was set up and ready to go! Great job.

Thank you to those of you who weren't an official part of the steering committee, but who showed up early each week to help set up and keep everything running smoothly!

And thank you so much to the whole Summer Sing choir - for the lovely things you wrote in my card and the gifts - both the earrings and the extra cash! You are so generous. I'll be using that cash when we go on our family vacation this year! Thank you most of all for your beautiful singing and kind-hearted, enthusiastic spirit. You're the best.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your summer, and a happy, healthy year until I see you again.

Love,
Katie
