Dear Neighbors,
Thanks to the more than 1,700 5th Ward voters who participated in the City Council election this week. I am honored to have earned your trust, your confidence, and more than 56% of your votes.
You can see the election results here.
Wednesday afternoon, I received a gracious note from Liz Urtecho, congratulating me and wishing me luck in my next four years in office. In response, I praised Liz for her hard work on the campaign, which inspired many dedicated supporters.  I also wrote:
We have been neighbors for many years, and as I said to a number of your supporters, when the campaign is over we will still be neighbors, living in the community we both love — the place we have chosen to raise our families and build our lives.
To the people of Hoboken: it has been the honor of a lifetime working with you the past four years — together we have managed the challenges of COVID-19; built the Northwest Resiliency Park and transformed Northwest Hoboken; opened new athletic fields; fought for our connected, public waterfront; worked to keep rents affordable and taxes stable; and worked to make our community resilient for the long-term, prepared for the impacts of stronger, wetter storms, and climate change.
I look forward to serving our community for four more years — working together to make Hoboken an even better place to live, work, or raise a family.
Thank you so much,
Phil Cohen
