What Cheer, Netop?
here's the latest news from Chris + Jennifer of What Cheer Records + Vintage and the Rock + Roll Yard Sale. in the absence of putting on a Spring event this year we're instead taking time to catch up on personal art and musical projects. read on for more on that.
we're also popping up tomorrow aka this Saturday 25 April on Wickenden Street where we'll be selling LPs and spinning vinyl. Wickenden has always been important to us. it's where we got our start back in 1998 at the legendary This & That Shoppe (now Nostalgia where we sell out of booth # 175 upstairs). we'll be set up at our friend Ali's excellent shop Project Attic Vintage where she'll also be having a sidewalk sale. Ali has been a Rock & Roll Yard Sale vendor for a while now, so you may already be familiar with what she does, but if you haven't been to her shop then you're in for a treat. and tomorrow also happens to be the Wickenden Makers Market which is always a good time. so how's about you come buy and say hi?! hours for everything are 10am - 5pm.

and about our personal projects: before we got into the vintage, antiques and record business we did art stuff, which we both still do, but putting on events and running a biz really takes a huge bite out of both of our free time and energy. Jennifer Daltry studied illustration at RISD, graduating in the class of 1991. she draws inspiration from nature and animals.
Jennifer currently has 2 pieces in a large group show of self-portraits called Me, Myself, and I that's on the West End of town at 719 Westminster Street, Providence, RI. the show is up 'til 21st May and is part of East Manning Projects. the self-portraits she has in the show were both done during a residency Jennifer had at the wonderful Wedding Cake House. oh, and that piece above is of our kitty Alice. wanna support Jennifer's artwork? she's got loads of great work she'd be happy to sell her. just reply to this email to get in touch about that.
and, if you haven't heard, Chris Daltry of What Cheer makes music with two bands, the 'Mericans and Purple Ivy Shadows, both of which play a handful of shows a year in and around Providence.
the 'Mericans is a rootsy acoustic-based group formed in 2001 and will be celebrating its 25th anniversary at shows this year, including a set at this year's Porchfest (5/30) but first will be their annual unplugged set at Southside Community Land Trust's Rare & Unusual Plant Sale which is happening Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May ( the 'Mericans play at 1pm on tha Sunday to close out the sale). we get all of our vegetable garden's plants every year at this event. highly recommended.

we hope you're all okay in these truly messed up times. we're doing our best to contribute locally and put our energy into our creative endeavors amidst the chaos in what's formerly known as the United States of America. we love our country, but we hate how it's become hijacked. but that doesn't have to be any of our identities. we are our own parts of the World. we all collectively make it what it really is.
best, Chris & Jennifer Daltry.
wanna support the Daltrys? check out our artistic contributions, or shop with us by visiting whatcheerprovidence.com where you can find links to sites we sell at on the internet. we're also happy to sell by appointment, so reach out if you'd like to come dig. and then there's our space at Nostalgia on Wickenden in booth 175 upstairs. Nostalgia is three floors jammed with all sorts of antiques, vintage and records sold by many different sellers. it's a Providence institution.
