Pike County Technology Center Selects Project Architect
The Pike County Entrepreneurship & Technology Center is moving forward with the project. A couple of months ago, we received information from six highly-qualified firms and interviewed four firms. The construction committee selected to proceed with the design process choosing Hafer Architecture from Evansville.
Pike County EDC Hosts Chicago Site Selectors with SWIDC & Radius
Pike County EDC, Southwest Indiana Development Council, the Radius region, and Indiana Economic Development Corporation hosted a site selector event during the professional Blackhawks hockey game at the United Center in Chicago to strengthen relationships and share the many assets we have in southwest Indiana. It was a great event with 10 various site consultants who came to discuss site strategy in southwest Indiana.
 
3rd Annual Agribusiness Forum—Assistance for Startups
The Pike County Economic Development Corporation, Pike County Farm Bureau Inc, Pike County Soil & Water Conservation, and Pike County Purdue Extension are partnering to host the third annual Agribusiness Forum in Pike County. The event is intended to raise awareness of agribusiness and startup business opportunities. The event will be hosted at the 4H Building at Hornady Park in Petersburg on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Check-in will begin at 5:00, dinner at 5:30 and the presentation will begin at 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. The evening will be kicked off with dinner, followed by three speakers to take startup businesses to the next level. 
 
  • Heather Strohm with Purdue University will speak about creating business plans for startups.
  • Travis Schaffer, Josh Stolz, and Nick Fueger from German American Bank will discuss banking and finance.
  • Debra Decourcy, from Indiana Farm Bureau will discuss marketing and telling your story.
There will be no charge for attending the forum, but reservations are required. Please make you reservation by contacting Judy Gumbel at 812-766-0134 or Hugh Eskew at 812-354-8826.
 
Japanese Consul-General Ito Schedules Visit to Pike County
Consul-General Ito of Japan, with offices in Chicago is scheduled for an upcoming visit to Pike County. This will be the Consul-General’s second visit in two years to Pike County and we are thrilled to host him and show the many strengths Pike County has to offer for a potential business. Stay tuned for more details.
