Having Asthma Doesn't Mean You Have to Get Rid of Your Cat!
"A study from the Nationwide Children's Hospital analyzed environmental exposures, like pets and secondhand smoke, to determine if they have a role in asthma control among children whose asthma is managed [according to] guidelines. Researchers found that ... environmental exposures to pets or secondhand smoke were not significant factors in overall asthma improvement over time."
How Much Sleep Do Cats Need Anyway?
"Cats sleep between 12 to 16 hours a day on average."

"Your particular cat’s sleeping patterns may vary, depending on her age and health. Kittens need more sleep – up to 20 hours – because they are spending so much energy growing into cathood. On the other end of the spectrum, older cats start to slow down around age 7 and need more rest, especially if they have arthritis or joint issues."

I get asked fairly often about cats' meowing. What does it mean? Do I need to do something about it? How can I stop it?
Why cats meow has always intrigued people and at times has led to some unfortunate misunderstandings.

Cats rarely "talk" to each other, as they are more into using body language and other physical signs to communicate with each other. But around humans, they've learned from watching us that we not only talk a lot, but we seem to expect them to talk back! So they do. They also learn that it's a very effective way to get our attention if they need or want something. It can help our relationships with them, but there are several situations that may lead to negative responses, or even life-threatening results, if they are ignored or punished.
